Robert L. Flood et l’observation de l’Océanite de Wilson au large des îles Scilly

The Wilson’s Storm-Petrel Oceanites oceanicus is a small storm-petrel that breeds on rocky islands in Antarctic and sub-Antarctic seas, and which migrates northward over Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans in non-breeding season. It is nearly impossible to watch from coasts.
During ten-year (2000-09), Robert L. Flood and E. Ashley Fisher watched this species from short-range pelagic trips off the Isles of Scilly, South-west of Great-Britain. They found that Wilson’s Storm-Petrel is a regular though scarce passage migrant in Scillonian waters mainly late June to early September with peak passage end of July start of August. They published a short paper about their analysis in the July 2010 Issue of British Birds. We interviewed Robert L. Flood about this mysterious species.
